[TR] lock washer on TR3 trunnion

I am fitting new lock washers on the new trunnion of the TR3 as part of the 
rebuild. Let me rephrase, id like to fit new lock washers.
At 30 foot-pounds the nut will not drive them home. In fact I striped the 
nut by continuing to keep turning beyond.
Tried putting sockets over them at each end and turning them in with a C 
clamp. Not so good.
how have you guys got them to seat properly? bfh?
