Don't know about the TR6 version but on the Spitfire it engaged a 
solenoid when the ignition was turned off and the oil pressure was 
high.  It worked like this.  When the key was switched to Off, it 
sent voltage to the line leading to the solenoid.  The solenoid's 
ground line went to a terminal on the oil pressure sensor which 
connected it to ground when oil pressure was high  The purpose of the 
oil pressure connection was so that the solenoid would engage briefly 
when the switch was turned off with the engine running, but as soon 
as the engine stopped the solenoid would release and not drain the 
battery any further.
