[TR] GT6,TR6 intakes

I had someone tell me they had a TR6, but the intake only had two post to mount the carbs.  The TR6 has 4 studs to mount the carbs.
I am thinking that it is an intake for a GT6.
I did not think that they were interchangable. Is that possible?
If they are not interchangable, then someone really goofed up on the intake or its had a complete motor swap with a GT6.
Did the GT 6 have Stombergs or SU's.
