GM has an adhesive that is used in place of welding. I have not used it but
others on this forum have. My understanding is that it is quite effective

Subject: [TR] Exhaust weldiong.
Hi List,
I am hanging new exhaust on my car. I have decided to use "V-clamps" as
connectors between the butt ends of the pipes. These require welding a
stainless steel ring onto the end of the pipe. I am wondering if I could
reliable install these rings with JB Weld instead of trying to weld the
stainless to mild steel?
Best regards,
Tom
