oil since it has few volatiles. But ultimately, your best protection is 
to store in a climate controlled location where hot/cold cycles won't 
cause condensation. If your garage isn't heated, then NOT the garage. 
I'd suggest under the bed or in the sock drawer, since these locations 
might help convince your SO that you need to install an industrial 
heater in the garage.
