OK, now we are talking the same language and using like
dictionaries. I was coping the words from the Parts List.

I was contacted today and he stated that the side wood piece on his Tiger
is mounted with a nail like fasteners.

He could find no slot of any kind in the head. We will have to wait as he
investigates what he has for fasteners and wood.

Hi Ron

Thanks for that wedge part # ? never thought to look at series I/II

In my world a flat head screw ?is? countersunk ( as are oval head ) so
we?re on the same page

My best ?guess? now is that there may be a flat wood piece under the tray
but no fasteners?

Whish moe ?never messed with? guys would post pics

Jim

I question a flat head Philips. The drawing clearly shows
and angle cut for the fastener; that is why my guess was a Flat Countersunk
Head screw.

Right now I don?t believe there are any indications of fasteners if a piece
of wood was used under the battery tray.

Thank you for the wood picture ? I?m not sure what I have for side wood, I
do know it is stained some ? I will examine it more closely in Oct when I
take the battery out.

Basically we need more input to understand all the questions we have right
now on this subject.

?kinda like those wedges for the front top to windshield ? they exist? but
not in any list?

Alpine Parts List ? Body Fittings ? Series I & II ? pg. YV11 under part
D200 ? 2201875 Shim ? Toggle catch

Ron

The very comprehensive ?bolt list? on Tigers United lists the fasteners for
the side piece as 2 - #6 x ?? machine screw flat head Philips and shows
nothing for a lower piece of wood

For those who don?t know their Beech from their Birch, as a carpenter I DO
know? lol

The fine grain European Beech is on the left and lighter grain Birch on the
right

Both samples are sawn ( NOT plywood )

That side wood drawing actually has a part # 2231040 There are a few part
#s in the parts book for the trunk that are 22310xx but not that one? kinda
like those wedges for the front top to windshield ? they exist? but not in
any list. That might be the case with the possible lower filler under the
battery? maybe Buck has seen a drawing at the Rootes trust for one ??

Jim

                Assume!

Beech wood Drawing date ? 14.1.64 = Jan 14, 1964 and labeled Alpine
260

the holes are countersunk so probably 2 ? flat countersunk head screws x
5/8??

My part does not have those dimensions but this part drawing may have been
updated by the time my Tiger was built.

My part is longer, wider and the holes are not on the center line of the
part, they are off set up, I?m also not sure it is the original part.

I will have to take more measurements when I take the battery out at the
end of the season.

This is a great starting point for this part.

Ron,

I believe there was only two wood pieces.

Only one under the battery on the inboard

side (in the depression on the floor).

I seem to remember it was plywood and my

plies had become separated and deteriorated.

Paul Reisentz had the wood reproduced for

his restored cars and there is a supply left.

The next time I go there I will measure them

as well as get them available. I can?t guarantee

they are perfectly correct but I would

bet on it!

A good question has come up.

Should there be 2 pieces of wood in the trunk associated with the battery?

There is 1 piece screwed to the body at the side of the battery.

Was there originally a 2nd piece of wood under the battery tray?

I put plywood under my battery tray to get the battery mostly level with no
rocking.

If there is a 2nd piece of wood ? what are the dimensions?
