[Tigers] Tigers Digest, Vol 14, Issue 197

There's a discussion on the CAT forum. I've had a couple of original pieces and it's quarter sawn what looks to be a reddish mahogany. I've seen at least three cars with a very similar material.

A good question has come up.

Should there be 2 pieces of wood in the trunk associated with the battery?

There is 1 piece screwed to the body at the side of the battery.

Was there originally a 2nd piece of wood under the battery tray?

I put plywood under my battery tray to get the battery mostly level with no
rocking.

If there is a 2nd piece of wood - what are the dimensions?

Ron Fraser

Ron,
I believe there was only two wood pieces.
Only one under the battery on the inboard
side (in the depression on the floor).
I seem to remember it was plywood and my
plies had become separated and deteriorated.
Paul Reisentz had the wood reproduced for
his restored cars and there is a supply left.

The next time I go there I will measure them
as well as get them available.  I can?t guarantee
they are perfectly correct but I would
bet on it!

Far from original but I recreated the battery breather tube using a replica Lucas battery. Totally wrong clamps because I use a battery quick disconnect. Lost a 1/2 point at the concours for that

It is in the same comment saying my trunk seal was upside down (I knew that? thought I could sneak by, but the judges were really sharp.). Are there slots in the trunk seal where the buffers make contact? If so, photos please. Also Photos of your buffers to include fasteners.
