I think I told this story earlier but just in case. While restoring a1968 MGB-GT it took three windshields from VB to get one to fit. Earlier while restoring a1963 MG the first gas tank sending unit leaked on the floor of my garage. Back to VB for a replacement. In two days the sending unit was again leaking. I told my guys to screw VB and get one from Moss. VB made in China, Moss made in UK. No problems with the Moss sending unit years later. Alas VB is in my home town. Still, if there is an option it is always Moss.

FWIW, my story of earlier today was for a windshield from Victoria British. I regretted it and called Rick to beg forgiveness for the error in my ways. That's when he told me that he had the same provider on the windshield as everyone else at the time.
That said, I never bought another part from anyone other than Rick after that.

Stu,
It sounds like you are doing it right.
I would pull it out and try again though.
I say that because of the last one I put in.
It was brand new from Vic British OEM XXX.
It seemed to go in fine, trim and all.
But, the first cold night in my not so cold
California, one of the laminations in the lower
corner cracked. I can only think that I left it
a little too stressed on one side.

We installed the new windshield into the frame this weekend. Top and bottom seem OK, but on one side we can barely get the gasket over the ridge on the frame. The other side seemed ok.
The frame is off the car, on my bench. We started by centering the windshield as best we could judge, then started at the top center to lift the gasket over the lip, working our way across the top and down the sides. One side didn't fit well, but we pressed on, finishing the bottom. Still the one side just didn't seem right.
How did you guys do it? Start by getting one side in and working across? Top to bottom? Bottom to top?
And a trial fitting of some of the SS trim makes it look like that's going to be a lot of fun, too.
