[Tigers] Fwd: nylon teeth

The nylon teeth on the aluminum hub cam gear started in March 1965.

The nylon teeth crack and break off with age and use

If you are working on an engine and you find the nylon teeth – replace it before it fails completely and leaves you stranded somewhere.

B19KC, A11KK, A22KK engines will have this nylon toothed gear

All engines before March 1965 have the steel gears.

I do not know when Ford stopped using this nylon gear and went back to steel.

Pay attention Mk 1A and Mk 2 owners to info from Dr. Ron Fraser !!!

If you have the face of the engine off, CHANGE THE TIMING GEAR

FROM NYLON/ALUMINUM TO STEEL

It IS an interference engine.

It was one of those better ideas to quiet the chain noise.

I’m sure Ford tested it extensively and I’m sure it ran fine for their tests but it did not take into account time, years of time.

I don’t know when Ford changed back to steel, my reference material only goes to 1969 and it still shows nylon teeth.

Ford started using the nylon teeth on an aluminum hub March 1965; prior to that it was steel gears.

Do you mean they started using nylon teeth or changed from nylon teeth, Ron?
