Tom - BaT is designed to run like a real auction in the sense that the auction continues while there are active bidders.  This is in contrast to ebay auctions, which have a specified completion time and allow bidding programs to make last second bids.  I think the BaT auctions are more fair to the human bidders.

Peculiar auction the way the bidding timer kept rolling back to 2:00. It was a like football game where the referee kept saying, “Put _ _ seconds back on the clock.” Put a fork into it, it’s DONE! (after about 10 extra “two minute warnings”) Sold for $12,500.
