[Tigers] Gas Cap Questions

The new lid from Sunbeam Specialties does not include the spring loaded
part that mates up with the filler neck.  I've attached a picture of what
you get.  I've also attached a picture of the original lid showing the
spring loaded part that I am talking about.  I added a couple of arrows
showing where rivets were that held the insert in and another arrow
pointing to the cork gasket.  I'll use some small self-tapping screws to
replace the rivets and I want to replace the cork while I'm at it.  The
metal insert looks like it is press fitted together but I don't really want
to start prying on it and messing it up.  If nobody has any better idea
I'll probably just cut the old cork out and cut a new piece with the same
diameter and glue it in.
