[Tigers] MKII Alternator

The rebuild sounds like good advice. Just a note, if your MKII is fitted with the stock 35 Amp ammeter it could read seriously over scale if your alternator delivers its 55 Amps. A volt meter instead of ammeter is the best way to deal with that problem.

The 55 amp is fine – it will keep up with any high output stereo or accessories you install better than a lower amp unit.

I would have the alternator you have rebuilt or rebuild it myself. I’m pretty sure there are rebuild kits available.

The alternator on the MKII needs to be replaced, my workshop manual says the original was a 38 amp, the one on the car is a 55 amp. Is the 55 Amp ok, or should I look for a lower Amp alternator?
