Tigers United sale on AC Air Filter Housings $425 cash and carry . I have really enjoyed the sales of the units and met lot's of great guys in in Tiger world. When we are sold out there will be no second pressing. It took 3 different guys to get em made and although the partnership owns the molds we can't do another run. Get em before they are gone.....

According to TBON both the Shelby and Miles Alpine V-8s were Series II. The Jensen Project Prototype was a Series III.

G. Robson Book ? my guess is Shelby wanted to change the steering rack position and the front suspension geometry. I also believe the next concern was the rear axle and suspension. These seem to have been his main concerns and there were probably others. Funny, the same ones we have today. Maybe a look at the race Tigers would give more hints about the direction he envisioned. Remember $10,000 for the Shelby Alpine V-8 only goes so far and Rootes was not interested in making major, read that expensive changes to the Alpine platform.

I have no knowledge about the changes Shelby may have made if production had gone that way, but from what I recall, the first V-8 Alpines were Series 2 (Ken Miles) and 3 (Shelby).

I am now curious too, has there been any information as to what Shelby may have proposed?

Was reading the Tiger Wikipedia and the reference (citing the G. Robson book, "Sunbeam Alpine and Tiger- The complete Story")

to Carroll Shelby's initial desire to build the car. Though I do own a copy of this book I must admit that this is news to me.

Upon reading what Robson wrote, it still left me with a couple of questions. Do any of you folks know what Shelby, according to

Robson, had in mind when he proposed "radical modification of the Alpine's structure and chassis"? One wonders how things may

have played out in the big scheme of things if Rootes had given Shelby the gig, rather than Jensen.

Graham Robson also makes reference to some of the prototypes being built with SIII body shells. I believe this is hogwash,

leading me to question the veracity of the rest of the book's contents.

One more thing. Is my punctuation in this text coming through legibly?

                                                               Regards,

Rob:
I really like my 10 and 3/4? front brakes, I used this size as I still
have 13 inch wheels. The setup work very well as I have a Wilwood
proportioning valve to adjust front to rear effort to my driving style, or perhaps
lack of. One problem I have is that I use a 1980 Subaru Brat M/C to gain a
dual chamber master, this has turned out to be the weak link. While I got
plenty of help from Wilwood Tech about setup, when I asked for then to
recommend a dual chamber M/C I have not heard back and it?s been over a year. I
drive the car fairly regularly, it runs and stops great, brake pedal is
soft on initial press of pedal. Brakes have been bled several times and the
M/C does not leak and no fluid has been lost. I do need a line on a better
Master. The great is quite fast and I would say my stopping confidence for
me driving is about 80 to 85% sat. My son told me the pedal is too mushy
for him. My wife will not drive it yet, so just my oldest son and I have
driven it. So th
is needs
attention. I am still looking.
The actual caliper setup with drums on the rear is awesome for street use
and maybe when a new M/C is fitted something a little more, noting the car
is very fast!
By the way I used Classic tube hard lines for the car except for the M/C
connections in the engine bay to the valve, they are custom bent. I would
use this method again for another Tiger, but it would have to be Midnight
Blue (58)!!!

Jim,

Have you had a large amount of driving experience with the front Wilwood
and rear drum brake setup?
I am considering that same brake combination and also whether to convert
the rear brakes to Wilwood disks with Dale's kit.
What I'm trying ta assess is how much better the front only conversion is
in comparison to the stock Tiger brakes and also the full conversion to the
front only Wilwood disks. Any advice on what you may have learned would
be very helpful.

Hi Jon:

Punctuation seems okay.

Wasn't the Ken Miles prototype a pointy-fin (Series III)?
