[Tigers] Activity

The stock Tiger brake system is perfectly fine unless you’re going racing.

The biggest problem with the stock brakes are the pads. All pads have a heat range they work well within. If you overheat them you lose braking power and the pad start to turn white. The harder you drive, the harder you use the brakes, the more heat you build up, the better the pads you’ll need and possibly cooling air to the pads. The chore is to find the pad suited to your driving needs.

I had a problem with the brakes pulling to the right. I checked and double checked everything. Made sure the rear brakes were engaging similar side to side.

Checked everything on the front caliper to make sure they were operating properly. Nothing solved the problem until I bought a set of Hawke HPS pads, then the problem was gone. HPS pads are a very good pad good for street driving, autocross and some open track sessions.

I can only guess that the pads I had on my Tiger were mismatched somehow as in the pads had mixed compounds with different coefficients of friction.

On another note it seems the Tiger list gates have opened up again – thank you Mark.

I for another do not Facebook.

Jim,

Have you had a large amount of driving experience with the front Wilwood and rear drum brake setup?

I am considering that same brake combination and also whether to convert the rear brakes to Wilwood disks with Dale's kit.

What I'm trying ta assess is how much better the front only conversion is in comparison to the stock Tiger brakes and also the full conversion to the front only Wilwood disks. Any advice on what you may have learned would be very helpful.

I seem to continue to receive info from you folks. I would offer that as a former member of facebook, I utilize and appreciate and use this list almost daily, sometimes even add when I have something to offer.

As for social media, consider this, I closed my facebook account over 2 years ago when they were exposed conducting an experiment posting positive and negative info to selected facebook members as an unannounced experiment, really, I personally do not need to be part of this BS nor will I.

Here is the result of your contributions to my restoration effort, a 1966 Mark1(a) Tiger with a modified 260, posit track rear-end, Wilwood frond discs, stock rear drums, a really nice car, oh yes, Martha C. interior.

So thanks and let’s consider this one of the reasons to keep going.

Not having received anything frim the Tiger List since may 27th, I sent a test message to the List and received three responces. One of the responders copied the list. I got his responce in my personel mail, but no cc from the list. There is nothing from the list in my Comcast spam file! What gives?
