[Tigers] testing a tach

Ground the tach case. 12V to the 1/4 inch spade tab. It actually does not matter which of the two coil wires goes around the loop, but it’s easier for any actual installation to use the wire that will go to the positive (+) connection on the coil. It may matter which way the wire is looped (it does for my tach modules), so if you are doing this with some test wire then leave yourself enough slack to reverse the connections or else do it such that you can unhook the wire and change the direction of the loop.
Cheers,
Theo

Subject: [Tigers] testing a tach
I recently found a Tiger tach in a box of parts, one I think must have come with extras from a Tiger purchase in the past. I presently have the engine/tranny out of my Mk1. I want to sell this tach but feel it should be tested first. I recall the white wire is looped thru the plastic block and reads an impulse signal from the coil. This is where I need some guidance. Knowing I can use any car using a points type distributor, can I run a wire from one side (which + or - ) of the coil to make sure the tach works?
TIA.
