On page 41, it states: "when you pick a camshaft for the Tiger and plan to use the stock flat top pistons, the valve-to-piston clearance is a limiting factor. The following rule of thumb should be used in picking a camshaft for the Tiger 260: Maximum lift: 440"
Maximum overlap:56 degrees. The LAT-20 Sunbeam cam exceeds the lift, but not the overlap. Therefore it is usable in the Tiger with flat top pistons, provided that you are using the stock cylinder heads with original 1.67" intake valves. If you are running larger valves, then even with the
LAT-20 cam you will probably have to notch the pistons for valve clearance."

Subject: [Tigers] Stock 260 Engine Camshaft Question
Could someone respond as to whether the "Performance Tuning the Sunbeam Tiger" book contained a recommendation on what maximum camshaft lift the stock 260 would tolerate without valve to piston interference or whether another information source has that maximum lift number?
Rob
