I always laugh at the guys with more modern cars, stock with massive power already (relative to our cars), who "chip" their cars.  I mean, what's the point?  They don't have "enough" power already to do serious damage to themselves or others?  They don't have "enough" power to have fun?  Blast freeway on ramps?  If they were truly RACING and needing extra power down the stretch or out of the corners because the other cars have that fraction of a second on them, OK, maybe it makes sense.  BUT, if they were really RACING, head to head racing, not just track days, that means there are classes.  And rest assured, a chipped car is going to be in the full modified class - which means a chip alone ain't going to make you competitive - you'd need full racing suspension, stripped dead weight, etc., etc.
