[Tigers] Fuel Filters

The filter I found that I like is a Fram #3727 about $7 or $8 dollars
(Walmart), various prices on EBay. HOWEVER finding the right fittings to
fit the filter might be challenging, I went to a Hydraulic hose/fittings
shop and was able to find something that worked for me. The ones I used
gave me AN fitting on each end so was able to plum with SS AN 3/8
braided(Teflon) lines. The thing you will notice is how BIG the holes are
on BOTH ends of the filter so there is no restriction in the inlet and
outlets of the filter. The filter is a GM part for Chev and GM trucks. I'm
sure there is a name for the proper TYPE of connection that is required for
these type of connectors, but I haven't spent the time looking it up. The
fittings I found have been on the car for 12 years and no leaks. I was
having fuel starvation problems and decided to go with 3/8 SS braided all
the way (tank to carb.). If you look into the end of most filters there is
barely a 1/4 inch opening (like a reverse flare fitting), kind of a
restriction in my opinion.

Just what I did, not stock, but it works.

It must be all the snow up here in the northeast. Ibm getting ideas
againb&

I want to move the fuel pump on my Mk1A to the Mk2 location, the tire well
in the trunk. Ibve got a new Facet ready and waiting. Ibm trying to sort
out the layout in my mind, having seen the various custom layouts in photos
that some of you sent the first time I started thinking about this. But
here's the thought that keeps going through my mind...

Ibd rather not have any rubber fuel lines in the trunk.. Steel lines only,
less likely to have an issue. But I want to use a prefilter, that Ibd
rather have protected in the trunk, too. So I started looking for fuel
filters with threaded fittings on their inlets and outlets. I found a few
for fuel injected systems, Bosch stuff, Porsche stuff, etc. But those are
likely metric, and Ibd rather stick with something I could easily adapt to
the 5/16b (IIRC) standard fuel line.

I know therebs a pricey Fram filter for racers, but Ibm thinking there
must be something else. A cheaper something else. Any ideas out there?
