It is usually a ground no longer working. Both e front and rear ground using
the screw that holds the lens cover on- that the front- on a Mk1 the tail
lights lens on the rear may have screws holding them on from the inside (they
aren't the ground) while the tail light assemble has two wing nuts attached to
two screws that hold the assemble to the body- that is where they should
ground- also under the dash by the steering collum is a bundle of wires- shop
notes have color code and these wires have bullet connectors which lose
continuity and thus no power- I always lose tail lights here- often I just
wiggle the harness and they come on BUT have been pulled over to be told- not
good. The tail lights staying on when running sounds like the switch is wired
wrong as the head lights have a switch and the park lights are on in the
middle and the bottom when head lights are on- this switch isn't key/run wired
BUT that where I would start by checking the switch-
sometimes you can removes same and just keep turning on/off etc. and they
start making contact and continue working. Make sure it isn't brake lights
that are on and that switch(under generator on inner fender) isn't bad- they
usually stop working but suppose they could reverse the norm as it is key
switch related I'm fairly certain . Hope this gives U a starting point- a good
meter is an excellent idea IMO!! OH, in the trunk one tail light and brake-
2 seprate wires come from under drivers side thru body and the wires run
along the gas filler tubes- that could be the reason one light isn't working
too- dam bullet connectors!

My left rear
turn signal has stopped working, front left blinks quick and
no dash indicator
though right side turn signals are fine. Just noticed
that my rear tail lamps
are on when car is started and run.
Changed bulbs and nothing. Any ideas? Are
they related?
