Hi Tom.
There is half inch from top nut to air cleaner, il test it with putty. Is it
ok on hard acceleration ?

  Denis, try a piece of clay on top of the air cleaner screw  or nut
(whichever is higher...), close the bonnet carefully and see if it will latch.
If not, too high. if it will the clay might tell you how close it is to the
bonnet.
