Dear Denis,

  Silver soldering the cable can be very difficult and six years ago Bill
Heeley solved the problem with fast turnaround. Here is information from an
old thread:
    "The easiest way to change out the Shifter bar correctly, if you have
never
    done it before, is to send your old shifter (all of it) to  Bill Heeley
in
    Olney, Maryland.  He will R&R your entire shifter, put in a new "t" bar
and
    send it back.  His number is 301-774-6710"
