Exactly. There are lots of tracks or other venues where that kid could
go and run his car legitimately, and get a real published record. Doing
it on the street is a good way to cause public outcry and further drive
the public's opinions of racing into the gutter.
Additionally, racing, of any sort, has rules, both for safety and to
foster competition. Claiming a record outside of a sanctioned
competition is meaningless, because who's to say that the driver didn't
stage the video? It's easy to photoshop stuff in the dark. Maybe the
speedo is miscalibrated. Lots of other reasons why there is no point to
this kind of thing.
