Thanks for several replies, some just to me and not copied to the list.
I hadn't given wood much thought but since here in the UK it can get wet
and the garage isn't bone dry in the winter (or summer some years), I'm going
to go with nylon. I also remembered I have a bunch of nylon bar waiting
to be introduced to a hacksaw, file and 5/16 drill. I may indeed ditch the
seat mount which is adjustable but never gets adjusted because I'm the only
person who drives it and there is a fire-x bottle in the way of it moving
forward by more than an inch anyway. As an aside for all you guys or gals
looking for some extra arm room - put the seat as far back as it will go
and then use longer pedals.
I'm not sure how the seat bolt holes align to the seat frame so this mini
project will go quiet for a while but with 1.6+ Kg saving up for grabs it's
sure to get done this year - March/April at the latest.
