[Spridgets] tie rod clunk.

Greetings People,.

I hope everyone is well....it's been a while since I
posted..


I think one of my tie rods might be knackered....

When I turn the
steering wheel a little, just a tiny bit, there is an audible clunk coming
from the area of the tie rod.
I had hoped it was the tie rod end, but when I
grip the inner end of the tie rod through the rubber gaiter, I can feel
the
ball move in its socket...
Can this ball/socket joint be tightened to take up
the play and silence the clunk?  

I read in the manual that there are shims
in here somewhere... I have not had one apart before so am not thoroughly
familiar with it all yet...

any one got any tips?  (BTW this is the passenger
side tie rod in a RHD mkIIa sprite)
