[Spridgets] Door seal(?) installation

Can anyone on the list give me a good description of how to get these bloody
door seals onto my MKII? I can't seem to get the clip and rubber seal portion
of the seal to go the same way onto the edge seam. They're stitched together,
but it's a mother trying to get the stupid thing in place. I know that there's
a trick to it, I just can't figure out an easy way-or a hard way for that
matter.
the edge of the clip pieces keep wanting to fold over on me.
