Take a piece of sheetmetal, hold it up on the rocker a little past the
front edge, use a marker and mark the curve, cut it about 3/4" outside
of the mark, use tin snips to cut a few slots in the 3/4" overhang. Beat
the overhang into a lip, you might have to trim a bit off the slots
where they overlap but it is a simple piece to make.
Try it with a piece of cardboard first.
When you cut the rust out of the rocker, and fit the new patch, put a
screw in the middle of the patch and use it as a handle to slide the
patch behind what you cut out of the rocker. Some self drilling screws
to hold it in place so you can weld it work great and when you remove
the self drillers, spot weld those holes.
The tough part on a Bugeye are the behind the rear wheels patches.
Compound curves but I have beat metal to fit those too.
