[Spridgets] Seperation of Church and State

It was a colony in Rhode Island, as my memory serves me, that opened up the
new country, our country, to the Baptists and then following, other
religions.

The Baptists were known as "Anabaptist's" to the Church of England as they
did not support baptism by way of sprinkling water on infants, or children
who were, in their opinion too young to make decisions for themselves, but
rather felt that baptism was a personal choice to be entertained by those
old enough to make the decision on a personal volitional basis.

"Anabaptist" was a derogatory term meaning "against baptism". . against the
method of baptism, aspersion, as practiced by the Church of England. It was
later shortened to Baptist.

Side note:

There are over 150 different types of Baptist churches in the United
States. Everything from a small group known as "Two Seed in the Pod
Predestination Baptists" to "7th Day Baptists" who like the 7th Day
Adventist Church worship on Saturday. Basically, they all are more similar
than dissimilar in their theology. Southern Baptists make up half of the
Baptist churches in the US.
