Originally the posts were near the firewall, + being on the right 
(looking at it) or left side of the car.
Neg went to the solenoid.
Now and even 40 years ago the acid or corrosive action of the battery 
gas would rot out those 2 bumps in the firewall.
So if you must keep it original, stick a lead plate between the battery 
and the firewall. Plastic might work too.
Or if originality is not an issue, get a battery7 with the posts away 
from the fire wall.
I know Leo's car is original and he should keep it that way, it is 
gorgeous but the last thing I would want to see is a rotted out firewall 
due to the battery.
So Leo, just slip a shield of some sort between the battery and firewall 
when the car is not being shown.
