Hmnmm...   Looks as though the same butcher worked on my 68 Midget too.
I've looked through the repair manuals but couldn't find where it says:
"Take a double bit ax and a sawzall to the tranny hump and don't stop until
you've created a piece of modern art". It must be in there somewhere.....
