I don't know what the subject was that started these comments but here's some stuff that I know:

1) '67 was last year of pre-emissions motors here in the States, anyway.

Yes, the early 67s were 1098s and the late 67s had the pre-smog 1275.

2) Most '67's also had the Cooper S mechanical advance dizzy also, #40819 along with the very effective and simple "flying saucer" intake manifold mounted PCV valve. Works good, lasts long time.

Don't know about the dizzy on the 1098s but all of the pre-smog 1275s had the mechanical only dizzy. The gulp valve came on both engines.

3) Some '67's also came with a forged steel cranks (or so the books say) considering this was the year of the initial ("early") "thin-wall" blocks.

The pre-smog 1275 had the cross drilled crank that was nitrided. The smog model 1275s had tuftrided cranks.

The pre-smog 1275s also had the Cooper S rods and a better cam profile than those that followed. It was also the highest rated HP engine in the spridgets and it got really good gas milage...
