The "inner ring" that the Twister speaks of is on Bs, not Spridgets. 
He says it is to maintain a radius at the spindle for strength. (The 
radiused joint is under the ring) The ring is also, or only, for the 
oil seal lip to ride on. If it becomes grooved, you change it.
