Subject: [Spridgets] California fires

Most of you understood the scope of devastation wrought by the fires in
Southern California. Well, the long range forecasts (and Jim would
understand them better than most) predict that the Santa Ana (or more
properly, Santana from the Spanish vientos de Satan ("winds of Satan") winds
will return in the week after Thanksgiving. California and Federal
authorities are already massing resources in Southern California to fight
any fire that might crop up. That includes bringing in fire fighting teams
from Northern California and the Western Region, bulldozers, and even the
wide-body retardant dropping aircraft.

Forewarned is forearmed. It is comforting that some government agencies
think ahead on these things. It would be great if those of you in other
parts of the country never hear of any fires in California in the coming
weeks!

Buster, is it true that when George Bush got there for the last fires, with
the look of concern on his face for the photo-op, he asked Ahnold if they
could make some smores?
