The secret to good Okra is breading it a frying it.
Or, better still, pickle it.

You have to cut the Okra off the stalk when the time is right.  If you
leave it on the stalk, it will rot eventually.

Boiled Okra is to be avoided like Hogs Head Cheese (yep, it is that)
and blood boudin.  All are tasty, but there are too many other tasty
things that aren't disgusting.
