Hello MICHAEL,

       if you have the instructions for the crane then you know you
       can tape the plug wire to the side of the block with about 3/8"
       gap FROM the block, spin the dizzy (or loosen the optic eye and
       move that.. its how you set the initial timing) so that the
       shutter moves past the eye and you should get spark.. you can
       do static timing by using #4 cylinder instead of #1 as they
       are 360 degrees apart in firing.... if you can get #4 to arc,
       you should be able to TEST #1!...
