My father told me the story of he and my mother stuck
in traffic at the Midtown Tunnel in 1955 on the way to
the Roosevelt Hotel to make the final arrangements for
their wedding. A Bugatti Type 35 was next to him, and
my father told the guy "that's my favorite car in the
world". The guy told him it was for sale. Of course
the car was exactly the cost of the wedding and my
father had to say no.
