Airplanes are one of the last few things that are still using 3.5mm jacks
for audio.

I use these:

They have changeable wired connectors that allow me to swap them for a
usb-c connector so I can connect them to my phone or tablet.

One change I do is swap out the thin silicon bulbs for the ear canal with a
replacement memory foam upgrade:

I've used this most recently on a trip to India where I was in a plane for
over 16 hours on the longest leg, as well as a couple of 17+ hour flights
to South Africa.

These earbuds are not active, but with the memory foam they do a great job
and have excellent sound quality for under $30

I had another pair that lasted at least 10 years, thanks to being able to
replace the wires when they degraded from over bending.

I've been flying a lot the past 3 years, averaging over 150,000 miles of
international travel, and used them even when flying business/first where
the airline offers a powered over ear headset in the seat, due to comfort.
