I will politely, partially, disagree on this one. 

If you have a battery maintainer on it (and how could you not?), you might need to buy a new one. Take a look at the specs for the one you have. I’ve used standard Battery Tender branded devices on all the stuff I have that sits (generator, 24/7/365 and motorcycle, during the winter months) for many years, with no issues. 

In terms of charging the battery from the generator while it’s running, you will be just fine.
