[Shop-talk] scanner help

I think I deleted the source of this so my apologies if this is 
redundant, but...  Did you try plugging the scanner into a different 
computer?  I know, you shouldn't -need- to do that, but I had a scanner 
gunny-sack between infrequent uses once, and it took a while to figure 
it the problem wasn't just microsoft-software-update-induced.
