[Shop-talk] header wrap

Thanks Neil. This is down stream of the flex pipe that is still in perfect condition. Does your reply still make sense then? (not trying to be a troll, just try to save money on a car that is approaching the end of reliable DD.)

Thanks Karl. Same question to you: Does your reply still make sense since I am down stream of the exhaust manifold?

Again, thanks all for the replies. Just trying to extend the life of a car that needs a lot of electrical work that I cannot even begin to do myself.

Sandwiching it between the exhaust and a can will hammer it - not surprised it fell apart! It'll be getting the vibration (relatively low frequency) as well as the noise frequencies you were blocking - that energy had to go somewhere...

I used a couple feet to patch a break and muffle the noise in an exhaust pipe on my wife's DD. It was held in place with a can and hose clamps. It worked fine for a couple weeks then started to get loud again. Yesterday I pulled the can to see what was going on and just about all the wrap was gone.
