Moose's first reply was, in part, what I had been thinking. The rest of the security issue replies cemented the return.

My printed (and frelling HP) do not need access to my contacts, etc.

PITA spying printer is boxed with (free) shipping label and going away tomorrow.

Sorry for the off topic but I know there are many computer experts out there.

I bought this printer so I would have a "simple" B&W laser jet for shipping labels.

When I bought it I missed that is has to stay connected to the web even after set up and subsequent printing through the USB cable.

I am hoping I can install the drivers for this thing without the need for constant web access by the machine.

Any one have any thoughts on how I can do this?  (near as I can tell, the HP web site won't allow just downloading the drivers. It want access to my network on the very first step.)
