[Shop-talk] Repairing bump in asphalt driveway?

Do you know what's causing the bump?  I had tree roots causing a similar
bump (4 inches, but longer) and cutting out the tree root and backfilling
with gravel then hot patch was the quick fix.  As a side note, for others
who have more time, the paving vendor said you can cut the roots at the
edge of the driveway and they will collapse then the bump will go down and
the patching is much simpler.
