Over the years, my job has always involved a lot of keyboard work... first as a clerk, then as a mainframe computer operator, then as a operation manual developer and as a timekeeper... not unusual to spend 6-8 hours a day on a keyboard... Had my first carpal tunnel surgery around 1995 on left hand... small 1” incision on wrist and I think doc said the bone was drilled out or the area around the nerve was relieved..... instant relief and other than tenderness at incision for about a month there were no problems... Had the right done in 2006 . Same procedure . Had no problems with either after all these years... Now, that being said, the hands are now 70 years old and don’t/won’t do what they used to... my grip isn’t what it used to be and things requiring fine motor skills are harder than they used to be... I’d do it again if it was necessary.
