I've used one (a rental). It is loud and shakes a lot. Compare the cost 
of renting it vs hiring someone. If the latter is not too dear, pay them 
- they'll earn their money...

Hopefully the trees were cut down close to ground level. If the stumps 
are more than a few inches above ground level that will make the job 
more difficult and take a lot longer.
