[Shop-talk] blue screen problems... need the gurus

One question would be - do you reboot frequently? Windows systems tend to need that periodically... say once a week or else they seem to use up alot of memory and just start acting erratically.

The BCCode 19 you referenced seems related to system memory, so maybe a bad module. Could try making sure there's no "shop dust" getting into the case or moisture, etc. Maybe a good excuse to add some new memory?

That said, one other thing might be the hard drive starting to go. When a critical system file happens to be on a part of the hard disk that is corrupted, it could start crashing. If you have started hearing any strange humming, buzzing or clicking noises, that could be another sign.

I'm not that familiar with diagnosing newer Windows systems any more since I don't use Windows primarily, but I would imagine there are built in tools to help you through that.

this week I have started getting the 'blue screen of death'!! Gives me the screen... does the dump and reboots...

upon reboot I get the 'windows had a boo-boo' box with the following information
Could be anything, bad hardware or bad driver or corrupted file system or virus, etc. I believe you have Windows 7. Best advice is to boot into safe mode and run diagnostics/updates.

If it is Win 7 consider updating to Win 10.

of course all of this is just gobblede-gook to me. I did finally get it to allow me to print out the minidump and have it saved if someone wants to look at it
I used to be able to read memory dumps, but that was 30 years ago with mainframes and cobol... this don't look like those !

any of you super guru binary/hex people give me an idea what's blowing up my pc ??? I would certainly appreciate some guidance... I can email you the dump if it helps

thanks
John
