[Shop-talk] Jackstand PSA and request for trusted stand brand

Whenever I set a car on stands, I always do two things...

1. To set them, I lift the riser up and watch the handle rise and fall
as the teeth pass. Then I check the handles on the stands - if they
aren't in the correct position, then the teeth aren't engaged
properly.

2. After the car is up, I give it a good hip check on all sides. If
I can't shake it loose, it ought to be OK.

If I have the tires off, I often slide them under the car where they
won't be in the way, but will keep it from going all the way down.

I'd also be interested in any photos of the jack failure.
