[Shop-talk] Old business - THANK YOU!!!

For months now I've been unable to post to the list. Till today, my last
posts were looking for advice on water heaters before Christmas, and I was
never able to thank everyone who offered help.

Epilogue to the water heater story. Lochinvar honored my warrantee and gave
me a new water heater, directly from the factory warehouse. They'd stopped
making the shorter model and the one that replaced my old heater was 3"
taller - too tall for the space I had under the stair landing. I had no way
to get the B-vent in there with any clearance below the joists. After a
couple of days of finagling and some quality time out in the snow cutting
and welding new angle-iron joists for the landing, I'm all set. A bonus is
that most standard sized 50-gallon tanks will fit in the future.

As advised, I'll be changing the anode for a magnesium one, probably when
this one turns a year old. This heater has a separate anode, whereas the
old one only had the outlet dip tube for an anode.

Before that it was about a nibbler, and while I still haven't been to
Horrible Freight to buy one, I'll be doing that before air conditioning
season. Thanks again for all the advice.

As Eric said, you guys always come through. Thank you !!!

Karl
