Karl, you gave me what I needed.  BTW, the neighbor gave up looking in the 
machine's book a while ago.

FWIW, I knew that it was a 45 degree, IF I was cutting it.  But it was the 
bend that threw the wrench in the works.

Thanks again guys!

Now I'm out to deal with today's snow.  (I think I'm up to almost 3' in 
the past two weeks.)

As already answered the angles are 45 degrees off each leg for a 90 degree
included angle.  However...

The other consideration is the bend allowance for the sheet metal - the
thickness of the web.  If you just cut a square notch in each leg you'll 
end
up having to really stretch the metal of the web on the outside of the 
bend
to make the full 90 degrees.  Try this:
