   My parents' house in the mountains of New York had no heat in the two
upstairs bedrooms except that which radiated up the staircase.  My sister
and I probably would've frozen to death some cold night without our
electric blankets. But even still, I was rarely able to stay under it all
night long as it'd get too hot.
