Hi Walter,
YES - I like having a web site. I agree that the Yahoo Group isn't going
to get the attention of the public or interested future members as
readily as a real web site. I also vote to keep the web site, but having
created and maintained web sites for our business for 20 years, and
having been an early user of the Internet, nothing is less impressive to
me than an out-of-date web site. Godday.com is our current web host, and
the cost is $6.99 per month plus about $10 a year for the domain name.
It's cheap, but if you want to spend that money, don't you want the web
site to be current?
If you look carefully at the web site, you'll see that many sections of
it are 5-6 years out of date and it needs to be updated regularly.
Again, I am not casting blame at /anyone,/ just stating reality. We can
streamline it significantly because there are a lot of outdated links
and unnecessary stuff currently on the web site. I previously sent
Tcherek and Sheryl a list of all of the corrections, updates and
deletions the site needs to bring it up to date.
I no longer want to keep working on updating the web site, because I
don't have access to it and have not been able to get access to it. I
have to move on to other responsibilities and not spin my wheels and
irritate people, particularly if I'm the only one who cares that it's
out of date. If you members feel the same way, please say share your
thoughts - maybe Dean and Sheryl can work together on making the
transition so we can keep the web site but make it more useful, and so
our public image is of a currently active organization. If you disagree,
it's moot, since I'm stepping back and leaving it to others to either
work on it or not as the membership decides.
See you soon,
Greg Tatarian
