Hi Mark, mine takes 4.5 quarts including the filter and I don't have a
dented oil pan; although I used to. My dipstick touches the bottom of the
oil pan when it's pushed all the way down, I wonder if it should; that would
account for the difference between ours and Rons.

MGA owners:

I am a bit puzzled about the difference between what my MGA should
take for oil and what it actually took.

I just replaced all the oils (and filter) after leaving everything to
drain for an hour (level). I drove the car 4 miles to get everything
warm.

The handbook says that the engine takes 9.5 US pints. Mine took only
8.5 US pints.
The handbook says the rear axle takes 3.25 US pints. Mine took only 2
pints to the filler plug hole.
The gearbox was the only thing that actually swallowed the
recommended dose.

Should I be concerned, or is it just they they never fully drain?

Thanks
Mark
